Winthrop offers three graduate music degree programs that are all 2 year programs, including Master of Music in Conducting, Master of Music in Performance, and Master of Music Education.
It is the mission of the Department of Music at Winthrop University to offer nationally accredited music programs that provide students with opportunities to explore their intellectual and creative potentials through conducting, music education, and music performance degrees to prepare them for a life of professional, academic, and community service.

An accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) since 1940, the Department of Music is also accredited by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (now CEAP) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Performance Opportunities
We offer personal attention and career mentoring as well as solo and ensemble performance opportunities to our students.
Our music faculty are dedicated to developing relationships with each of our students. Nearly 95 percent of the full-time music faculty hold the highest degree possible in their teaching specialty and perform professionally outside of the university and across the region.
