Rocha Nicaragua Service Learning Project

Rocha Project Goat Fund
The Rocha, Nicaragua Project provides students with wonderful opportunities to give back to a developing country that is making its way back from civil war and underdevelopment. It also provides ways for students to learn about poverty, underdevelopment, and ways to overcome underdevelopment in the 21st century.

Each year students travel to Nicaragua with Winthrop University professors to undertake service-learning projects through interdisciplinary opportunities. Trips vary in length but are usually from one week to ten days long.

Rocha Goats with Family
Starting in Spring 2020, the Winthrop University Rocha Project is gifting goats to women in several rural Nicaraguan communities. The purpose is to help them save money to send their children to school.
