Schedule of Workshops:

*Please note that workshops are first come first serve upon arrival, and only those registered will be allowed to attend the workshops. Parents will have a seperate itinerary for that day. Workshop sessions are for students only.

    9:45 a.m. - 10:25 a.m.

    Registration/Check-in and receive studio assignments, Rutledge Gallery. Assignments are first come, first serve.

    10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

    Students will be able to choose one workshop from the following to attend:

    Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Printmaking, Art History, or Video

    12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

    *Lunch will be provided.

    1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

    Students will be able to choose one workshop from the following to attend:

    Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Art Education, Printmaking, or Portfolio

    Learn about the College of Visual and Performing Arts from Alumni and Faculty.

Workshop Options/ details:

Morning workshops

    Professor: Myles Calvert

    Location: Rutledge 105

    Description: Explore the possibilities of ink and etching press, to produce a three layered
    photographic monoprint.

    Professor: Seth Rouser

    Location: Rutledge 132

    Description: Students will learn to use color theory to mix colors to match what they see with a limited palette of white,  primary, and secondary colors. This technique is not only accurate it saves the artist money on materials.

    Professor: Stacy Davidson

    Location: Rutledge 130

    Description: Object Portraits - Students will paint from observation of various objects with the mindset of a portrait artist, giving a new spin to the subject of still life, seeing such elements as persons rather than things.

    Professor: Shaun Cassidy

    Location: Rutledge G18

    Description: Students will work to transform space using multimedia such as wood, fabric, and fibers.

    Professor: Chloe Compton

    Location: Rutledge G10

    Description: Nature's Impressions: exploring texture and surface decoration with natural objects and colored slips. Students will explore the potential of natural objects to create abstract textured ceramic tiles. This project engages with 2D and 3D design principles while introducing students to using clay tools, colored slips, and surface decoration techniques.

    Description: Be anywhere or nowhere! Learn Green Screen composite techniques  and explore Adobe Premiere Pro editing effects in this video art workshop

    Professor: Dr. Kyle Sweeney

    Location: Rutledge 119 and McLaurin 212

    Description: While virtual reality (VR) is becoming increasingly common today, did you know artists and architects created wildly immersive spaces all the way back during the Stone Age? In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn about some historic immersive art environments and have an opportunity to explore the world using a high-powered VR headset.

    Description: If you can sketch it, you can print it! Explore textures, line weights, ink, and the etching press, to produce a limited edition multiple you can trade and rework with additional mediums. Bring a 5x7” image or choose from those provided.

    Description: Students will work in the traditional analog ‘Wet’ darkroom producing photogram images using lensless photography.

    Description: Aesthetic Development remixed with Visual Culture Frameworks; a focused and intentional strategy to refine YOUR studio practice - in a forever kind of way!
