Profile

As Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Meg Webber assists with the leadership of the Academic Affairs Division and the University in a variety of areas crucial to the university’s mission and goals. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to, leadership for faculty affairs and services, institutional-wide employee learning and professional development, and administrative direction of the institution’s Quality Enhancement Plan for SACSCOC Accreditation. Additionally, she has oversight of the Office of Grants & Sponsored Research Development. As an advocate for the institution as a hub of engaged, community education, Dr. Webber also serves on a variety of committees and represents the Provost as needed on campus and throughout the community.

Immediately prior to coming to Winthrop, Webber served as Assistant Dean of the College at Centenary College of Louisiana-Shreveport, LA with administrative responsibilities for student academic intervention programs, the direction of academic co-curricular departments (intercultural engagement, service-learning, and career services), and administrative leadership for the college's Quality Enhancement Plan. Other professional experience includes managing Education, Quality, and Communications departments and multi-site initiatives with UnitedHealth Group; teaching history for Virginia Western Community College-Roanoke, VA; and contributing to educational programs with museums in both the Midwest and the South.

Webber's teaching experience in higher education includes international faculty-led study abroad, U.S. History (in person, hybrid, online), co-taught English/History (online) coursework, co-taught Intro to Study Abroad coursework (in person), Curriculum (in person, online), and both team-taught and individual First-Year Experience/Principles of the Academy (in person) courses.

Webber is an honors program graduate of Taylor University-Upland, IN with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history. She holds a Master of Arts in history and a doctorate in educational leadership (focused on adult and community education with a cognate in history) from Ball State University-Muncie, IN. In 2021 she completed the Master of Education in learning design and technology at Winthrop University, and in May of 2023, she earned the ACUE Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
