What makes Winthrop special to you? What makes Winthrop special to me is something that is overlooked by many people
who come to tour the campus, and that is the small class sizes. Small classes allow
professors to get to know and care about the education of each student so they become
more than just a number.
What do you love about Winthrop? Being a smaller university allows the community on and around Winthrop’s campus
to be/feel very inclusive. It doesn’t matter what you are involved in, there is always
something to do and people who share those same interests as you.
What is your favorite local restaurant in Rock Hill? This is a hard question because there are so many great restaurants in Rock Hill.
If I had to choose, there are three that come to mind; Heartlands on Dave Lyle, the
Rock Hill Diner on Cherry Road, or Ebenezer Grill on Ebenezer Road. They are all good
options but you really can’t go wrong anywhere.
What is your favorite event to attend in Rock Hill or local area? The United States Disc Golf Championship that takes place in the fall at Winthrop
Lake. You get to see the best in the world at the sport compete right down the road,
then the next week, you can play the exact same course to find out how you compare
to the pros.
What is your favorite thing about Rock Hill? Rock Hill will quickly feel like home and you will always find something to do or an event going on no matter where you go. Rock Hill may be one of the biggest cities in South Carolina but it has a great small town feel.
Why should a student pick Winthrop? If you are looking for a welcoming and open community where everyone has a voice,
and where learning is very personalized, then Winthrop is definitely the place for
you.
What advice do you have for students during their search process? Don’t have tunnel vision when it comes to finding the right school. Remember to keep an open mind and explore all of your options. You’ll be sure to find the right school. Also, always ask questions, don’t go into anything blind.
