Dr. Katharine Hubbard teaches integrated communication classes at Winthrop and has worked as a copywriter and behavioral designer at advertising agencies. Before coming to Winthrop, Dr. Hubbard taught at the college level for more than 6 years, including stints at The University of Texas at Austin, SUNY Buffalo State, and Sam Houston State University. Her agency experience includes working on campaigns for the Nebraska Tourism Commission, Nebraska Game and Parks, AT&T, and Black People Meet.
 
Dr. Hubbard incorporates project-based learning and other engaging learning activities into the classroom as a teacher. Her classes have worked with numerous nonprofits and local organizations to create strategic communication plans tackling real-world communication problems. 
 
Dr. Hubbard’s research focuses on health information seeking and communication, the knowledge dissemination gap between academics and practitioners in advertising, creative judgments, and student perceptions of engagement in the classroom.
