Philosophy
Dr. Kiblinger joined the Winthrop faculty in 2005. After receiving his B.A. from Williams
College, he spent four years as a high school teacher in Europe. Then he attended
graduate school at the University of Chicago, where he completed his M.A. and Ph.D.
degrees. During his time in Chicago, he taught at DePaul University, and later he
spent three years teaching at Thiel College in Pennsylvania.
At Winthrop, Kiblinger teaches a variety of courses: "Introduction to Religious Studies,"
"Philosophy of Religion," "Modern Christian Thought," "Modern Philosophy," "Existentialism,"
"Psychology of Religion", and "The Human Experience." His academic interests and research
focus primarily on continental philosophy of religion, especially the post-Kantian
tradition and its legacy in the 20th century.
He and his wife, Kristin Kiblinger, associate professor of philosophy and religious
studies at Winthrop, live in Rock Hill. They have two daughters.
