Pedagogy
Dr. Polaski completed his doctorate in mathematics at Duke University in 1991 and has been a professor at Winthrop since then. He was promoted to associate professor in 1997 and to professor in 2004. He was honored to receive the Outstanding Junior Professor Award at Winthrop in 1997.
Polaski has been a contributing author for widely-used calculus and linear algebra texts and has written technology supplements and other ancillary materials for applied calculus, finite mathematics, linear algebra, and differential equations texts. He is a frequent speaker at mathematics meetings and student seminars on subjects ranging from models for cancer formation to models for baseball run production. Polaski is a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews, and he has been a faculty consultant for the Advanced Placement Calculus reading for over 20 years.
A native of Florida and a proud graduate of Furman University, Polaski lives in Charlotte, N.C., with his wife and daughter.
