Winthrop University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. The Winthrop University Early Childhood Education Program is designed to provide the teacher candidate with the field and clinical experiences necessary to become a certified teacher in grades Pre-K-3. Our Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). We have a long history of meeting rigorous professional standards and pride ourselves in preparing highly qualified early childhood teachers.
Courses leading to the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education provide students with the opportunity to explore current research in the field. The major requires 62 semester hours in the professional education sequence, including approximately 29 semester hours in the core curriculum. Additionally, students analyze and apply new learning and teaching strategies in a variety of field settings including child care centers, Macfeat Early Childhood Laboratory School, and public school classrooms in surrounding areas.
