Theatre

Bachelor of Arts

Students majoring in theatre at Winthrop University will experience a program that encourages a breadth of knowledge that includes production work as well as performance. All theatre majors have opportunities to assume artistic leadership roles during their academic careers in the department. Advanced students take on lead acting roles, design duties, stage management positions, technical direction responsibilities, box office management, direction, and more. Very few undergraduate programs offer these many opportunities for students to perform, design, direct, choreograph, stage manage, and run productions.

Beyond Graduation

"Winthrop has one of the best theatre programs in the world in my opinion. I still use the training I received at Winthrop to this day. I use more of what I learned at Winthrop than what I learned in my graduate study. Also, the family atmosphere within the department was very supportive. The Winthrop program was not about putting you in a box; it was about defining who you were as an actress/actor, embracing that and then learning how to grow at what you do."
