ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Each fall Winthrop University brings together professionals and families who want to implement the best practices for individuals with disabilities.

Registration is now live for the 4th Annual Regional Inclusion Across the Lifespan Conference of the Carolinas, a one-day conference that educates attendees on inclusive practices for the home, school and community settings for people with disabilities. The conference begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 4 in Plowden Auditorium.

David McDonald '01, president of the Winthrop Alumni Association and assistant superintendent for school leadership — middle schools for Greenville County Schools, will give the keynote address, titled "ALL Means ALL!" The speech will emphasize how students come from a variety of backgrounds, interests and experiences and have individual needs. It's the educators' duty to provide an inclusive setting for all of those students.

Attendees will then have the choice to attend several different sessions throughout the day, including sessions on person-centered planning at Winthrop Think College; social emotional learning's effect on academic success; special needs planning; and ways to close the research-to-practice gap for best practices in inclusion. View the full agenda online (will be linked).

Conference registration is $50 and includes lunch. Interested parties can pay online (linked) or make checks payable to SCDADD (the South Carolina Division on Autism and Development Disabilities, part of the S.C. Council for Exceptional Children). Checks can be send to Amanda Walkup, SCDADD treasurer, 103 Fawn Ridge Way, Simpsonville, S.C., 29662.

The registration deadline is Oct. 31.
