ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University’s financial planning program has earned national recognition over the years, including Financial Planning Magazine recognizing it as one of the top 95 in the nation.

Thanks to that esteemed reputation, Charles Schwab Advisor Services has invited four Winthrop students to attend IMPACT 2022, Schwab’s largest conference for Registered Investment Advisors that brings industry experts, advisors and students together.

The four students were selected based on their academic records and their desire to work as a financial advisor. They are:

*Kennlynn Presley;

*Kalie Todd;

*Anna Pennington;

*and Natalia Arriaga.

The conference is scheduled for Nov. 1-3 in Denver, Colorado. There, the students will hear from and network with industry experts such as Schwab CEO Michael C. Bush; FutureThink CEO Lisa Bodell; Stephanie Kelton, author and professor of economics and public policy at Stony Brook University; Bernie Clark, managing director for advisor services at Charles Schwab; and more.

This is the fourth year that Winthrop has been invited to participate, noted Philip Gibson, professor of finance and director of Winthrop’s financial planning program.

“The students’ resumes will be added to a resume book, and they will be invited to attend a career fair just for the students in attendance,” Gibson said. “This conference will give students the opportunity to network and learn from some of the thought leaders in financial planning.”

Gibson also thanked Schwab Advisor Services for the invitation and the Charles Schwab Foundation for making the grant funds possible.
