ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – “What can I do with my degree once I graduate?”

That’s a question many students rightfully ask themselves as they select their college of choice, their major, their courses and more. Winthrop University’s College of Arts and Sciences has put together a panel, “Life After WU,” to help answer that timeless question.

The panel is set for March 16 at 7 p.m. Register here.

The virtual panel will showcase how three alumni translated their respective degrees in mathematics, biology and psychology into distinguished careers. They are:

*Ian Deas ’15 is currently the assistant dean of undergraduate students and director of student leadership and engagement at Princeton University. At Winthrop, he served as student body president and was both a McNair Scholar and an Eagle STEM Scholar. He holds a biology degree from Winthrop and a master’s in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania.

*Hannah Swan ’14 majored in mathematics at Winthrop and participated in the McNair Scholars program. She also earned a master’s degree in computing from the University of Utah. She currently works as a software engineer on the character performance and authoring team at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Fun Fact: she’s worked on Disney films such as “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” “Frozen 2” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.”

*Vilissa Thompson ’08, ’12, is the founder and CEO of Ramp Your Voice!, an organization focusing on promoting self-advocacy and strengthening empowerment for people with disabilities. Her work has been featured in “ESSENCE” and “Forbes,” and she’s appeared on MTV. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Social Work, both from Winthrop. Fun fact: she served as a consultant for Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 presidential campaign.
