The program is currently accepting applications for both mentors and mentees. Mentors must have graduated from Winthrop, been employed for at least one year, and
commit to one full school year of mentoring.ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Transitioning from college to a career can be a daunting
experience.
The College of Business Administration at Winthrop University will make that transition a little easier with the new Mentoring Business Minds program (MBM).
The program partners undergraduate business students with alumni who serve as mentors,
encouraging, empowering and pushing the students to be innovative. These professional
relationships also help students to think critically, network and pull from the alumni's
wealth of business knowledge.
MBM hosted a kick-off event this month to welcome alumni interested in serving as
mentors. About 140 attended, a large number that made Assistant Dean and Associate
Professor of Economics Laura Ullrich very happy.
"We strongly believe that the Mentoring Business Minds program will benefit both students
and mentors," Ullrich said. "Our students are eager to speak with successful alumni
in their field, and alumni are enthusiastic about giving back to the College of Business
at Winthrop. We look forward to the official launch of the program this fall."
The application for undergraduate students will be open later this semester.
