ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a candidate for the Democratic Party presidential nomination, will hold a town hall on Sunday, Sept. 10, on the Winthrop University campus. The meet and greet/community town hall will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. in McBryde Hall.

A lifelong Democrat, Kennedy is the son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy. He started his career in 1985 as a young attorney for the environmental nonprofit RiverKeeper, prosecuting polluters. Over the years, his work has especially emphasized marginalized communities in their battle against corporate and government polluters. Building on the success of the local Riverkeeper model, he co-founded the WaterKeeper Alliance and served as its president for 21 years. Under his direction, it became the world's largest nonprofit devoted to clean water and now protects 2.7 million miles of waterways with over a million volunteers in the United States and 46 other countries.

Kennedy is the first candidate to visit Winthrop during this 2024 elections cycle. Those wanting to attend the Sept. 10 town hall must RSVP by e-mailing ROCKHILL@KENNEDYSC.ORG.
