Presidential Candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders to Hold Rally at Winthrop

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Presidential candidate and Vermont Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders will make a campaign stop at Winthrop University on Friday, Sept. 20.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Winthrop's outdoor amphitheatre. Doors open at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required but an RSVP is encouraged. Entrance will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

Winthrop's College Democrats is sponsoring the event.

Appearing along with Sanders will be National Campaign Co-Chairs Sen. Nina Turner and Ben Cohen, and a lineup of national surrogates.

In 2006, Sanders was elected to the U.S. Senate after 16 years as Vermont's sole congressman in the House of Representatives. He is now serving his third term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2018. He sought the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2016.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Sanders attended James Madison High School, Brooklyn College and the University of Chicago.
