ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The facts of the case are these: Four Winthrop University alumni authors will autograph copies of a new Sherlock anthology at a March 4 book signing in Rock Hill.

Alumni Lucy Blue '88, '95; Jason Gilbert '04; Melissa McArthur '02, '14; and A.C. Thompson '99 will autograph copies of "Curious Incidents: More Improbable Adventures," an anthology of paranormal Sherlock Holmes stories. The signing will be held from 1-2 p.m. at The BooKnack, 742 Anderson Rd. N.

Read below for more information about the authors:

  • Lucy Blue: Blue, also known as Jessica Wylie Granville, earned her M.A. in English at Winthrop. She is the author of six paranormal fantasy romances in addition to a TV tie-in novel and numerous stories, novellas and novels. Her less-romantic short fiction has been featured in various anthologies. Blue has worked as an actress, teacher, copywriter, DJ, employment counselor and paralegal.

  • Jason Gilbert: Gilbert is the man behind Fail-Flix, a site dedicated to reviewing the best of the worst and the worst of the worst B-movies and independent films. His book, "Bad Movie Beware!," is a collection of these reviews. He's also the author of "The Rifle Chronicles," and he has been published in numerous anthologies. Gilbert earned his B.A. in theatre with a minor in creative writing at Winthrop.

  • Melissa McArthur: McArthur, an avid storyteller, teaches writing at Winthrop, where she works as an adjunct professor of English. She also works as a freelance editor at Clicking Keys. McArthur earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in English at Winthrop.

  • A.C. Thompson: Thompson is the speculative alter-ego of novelist and editor Alexandra Christian. Her writing explores darker worlds full of shape-shifters, cyborgs and interplanetary adventures. She earned her B.S. in early childhood education at Winthrop.

The March 4 book signing is free and open to the public. Copies of the "Curious Incidents" as well as "An Improbable Truth," the first anthology of paranormal Sherlock Holmes stories, will be available for purchase at the event.
