Social Work Department Chair Named to Accreditation Commission

  • Deana Morrow is one of only 11 social work educators from across the nation selected for a three-year appointment to the Commission in 2016.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Deana F. Morrow, Winthrop University chair and professor in social work, has been appointed to the Council on Social Work Education Commission on Accreditation

The commission provides accreditation review and approval for more than 750 social work programs in colleges and universities across the United States. It also acts as the policy body for developing and interpreting social 
work accreditation standards. 

Morrow is one of only 11 social work educators from across the nation selected for a three-year appointment to the Commission in 2016. 

She joined Winthrop in 2006 and holds a Ph.D. in counselor education from N.C. State University, an M.S.W. and a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Arts in Education in counseling from Western Carolina University. 

Morrow teaches courses in direct practice, psychopathology and leadership. She has also authored more than 30 published articles and book chapters, and has made more than 70 scholarly presentations in local, regional, national and international venues.
