Kristi Schoepfer

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Kristi Schoepfer, associate professor of sport management at Winthrop University, won the 2016 Herb Appenzeller Honor Award during the 29th Annual Sport and Recreation Law Association Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from Feb. 24-27.

The award is given to the association member who has given outstanding service to the organization. Schoepfer served as the conference host.

Since 2011, she has participated in a number of activities. They include:

*Served on Board of Directors as the member at large for honors and awards from 2012-14.
*Volunteered as website administrator in 2012-13, and continues in that role. She has created both the association website and the conference websites from scratch, created online conference registration and online membership registration, and created the online abstract/submission and review process
*Updated and posted on the association's Facebook account and created a Twitter page as the association's social media manager from 2013-15.
*Worked as conference host in Charlotte in 2015, in New Orleans in 2016 and will also host Vegas in 2017.
*Won the President's Award for Service to the Organization in 2013 and 2015.
*Served on the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport Editorial Board from 2011-15.
*Volunteered as an abstract reviewer for the 2013 and 2014 conferences.
*Presented or co-presented at each conference since 2008, with the exception of 2010 and 2016.
*Recruited and encouraged junior colleagues to join the association and to submit proposals to the conference.
