Vinyard and U.S. Army Sergeant Ronald Barker will discuss their commitment to the
armed services. The ceremony is sponsored by the Student Veterans of Winthrop University and University
College Academic Advising. 
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Winthrop University will honor veterans during a Nov. 8 special ceremony, with notes of appreciation and with a lunch for student veterans.
During an 11 a.m. ceremony in Dina's Place, speakers U.S. Marine Corps Captain James Vinyard and U.S. Army Sergeant Ronald Barker will discuss their commitment to the armed services. The ceremony is sponsored by
the Student Veterans of Winthrop University and University College Academic Advising.
University College Academic Advising gathered notes of appreciation to veterans last week and this week which will be
posted in the Student Veteran Center along with yellow ribbons. All proceeds will
go to a charity of the Student Veterans of Winthrop's choice.
Individuals wishing to write notes or buy a yellow ribbon may contact University College Academic Advising. American flags will once again line Scholars Walk in honor of Veterans Day, but will be displayed
on Nov. 8 to coincide with the ceremony (weather permitting).
Winthrop's student veterans are invited to join together in the Student Veterans Center
in the garden-level of Bancroft on Nov. 8 to enjoy a Veterans Appreciation Lunch. Lunch will be served immediately following the conclusion of the Veterans Day Ceremony.
