ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - Winthrop University recently was named to Money Magazine’s “Best Colleges for Your Money 2023.”

This marks the fourth time that Money Magazine has included Winthrop in its value rankings.

The magazine analyzed more than 700 four-year colleges and universities across the nation to discover which ones provide the best value for the money, using three criteria: quality, affordability and student outcomes. This enabled the magazine to eliminate institutions that have a below-average graduation rate, financial difficulty or fewer than 500 students.

Winthrop made the list of 736 colleges and universities that made the final cut. View the complete methodology.

President Edward Serna ’02 said he is proud that his alma mater can continue to offer a high quality education at an affordable cost. He noted that this summer, the Winthrop Board of Trustees voted to keep Winthrop’s in-state tuition rate the same for the fourth-straight year. “We are implementing several initiatives to enhance the Winthrop Experience for students through a new strategic plan, a robust campus master plan and a thorough review of our academic offerings,” Serna said. “Our goal in all that we do is to increase the value of a Winthrop diploma while keeping the cost of attending Winthrop well within the reach of students and their families. This independent assessment shows we are headed in the right direction.”

Over the past decade, Winthrop has consistently received third-party endorsements for its value, academic quality, diversity and sustainability efforts. Read more about these achievements.
