The South Carolina General Assembly appointed Ed Driggers '92 to the Congressional
District 4 seat that was vacated by Shane Duncan '98. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Winthrop and a Bachelor
of Arts degree in public relations from the University of South Carolina.
ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA - The Winthrop University Board of Trustees welcomed Ed Driggers '92 to the board during its April quarterly meeting.
The South Carolina General Assembly appointed Driggers to the Congressional District
4 seat that was vacated by Shane Duncan '98.
Driggers, who will serve a 4-year term, is the city administrator for Greer, South Carolina, a position he has held since 2000. He previously served for more than four years
as city administrator in Chester and as the plant superintendent for Carolina Tank
Corporation. Additionally, he served as the executive director for the South Carolina
Division of the American Cancer Society, and his interest in municipal government
was born during his first job as a staff reporter for The Chester News and Reporter.
Driggers is involved with a number of organizations including the Greater Greer Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors, Partnership For Tomorrow Board of Directors, Greer
Development Corporation Board of Directors, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow,
Rotary International, BMW Community Advisory Panel, Mitsubishi Polyester Film Corp.
Community Advisory Panel, University of South Carolina Alumni Association, Winthrop
University Alumni Association and First Presbyterian Church, Greer.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Winthrop and a Bachelor of
Arts degree in public relations from the University of South Carolina.
His wife, Christy Bigham Driggers '82, ˜88, holds both a Master of Education degree
and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop.
