ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Jacquelyn Rochelle Matheson, 21, a Winthrop University senior early childhood education major from Clover, South Carolina, passed away from injuries sustained in a May 5 car accident.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends,” Vice President for Student Affairs Shelia Burkhalter said in a campus-wide e-mail. Burkhalter also encouraged students to reach out to Winthrop’s Counseling Center for grief and loss assistance.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 13, from 6-9 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 834 West Limestone Road, York, S.C., 29745. The funeral service will held at the same location on Tuesday, May 14, at 2:30 p.m.
