Winthrop Interim President George Hynd Joins West Forum COVID-19 Panel Discussion

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University’s John C. West Forum on Policy and Politics will host a special COVID-19-themed panel featuring local leaders, including Winthrop Interim President George Hynd

“COVID-19 Insights: A Community Update” is set for Thursday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Register in advance here.  

In addition to Hynd, the panelists are: John Gettys, the mayor of Rock Hill; Mark Nosacka, CEO of Piedmont Medical Center; and Rick Lee ’82, SCDHEC board member. The moderator will be Katarina Moyon, director of the West Forum.  

Speakers will discuss the current state of COVID-19 in the York County region, including transmission rates, hospital capacity, testing and immunizations, mask regulations and more.  

Hynd will focus on current and future COVID-19 reduction plans and Winthrop’s goals related to the pandemic.
