New Summer Business Institute to Help Attendees Boost Business Careers

An additional new offering is the Summer Business Institute, an exciting new opportunity for students and professionals alike who are interested in starting or advancing their career in business with a unique, intensive educational experience. The SBI leverages Winthrop's high-quality, learner-centered education in areas such as writing, critical thinking and business, helping participants strengthen or fine-tune their leadership and communication skills.

The six-week program is taught by College of Business Administration faculty members, and the institute is ideal for aspiring M.B.A. students, international M.B.A. students, recent Winthrop graduates who were non-business majors and who wish to strengthen their technical business skills, adult learners and aspiring entrepreneurs and students from other universities.

The non-credit program is divided into two distinct, three-week sessions.

Session 1 (July 2-20): Quantitative Methods, Business Software Applications, Economics, Finance and Accounting

Session 2 (July 23-Aug. 10): Management, Marketing, Leadership, Communications, Entrepreneurship and Career Management

Cost for session 1 is $3,000; cost for both sessions is $5,400. Participants must take the first session in order to enroll in the second session. Sessions do not have to be taken in the same year. Apply by June 5 and save $500 off the regular cost.

"The SBI is an exciting and comprehensive opportunity because it includes participation in a mentoring program, field experience trips to local businesses, social activities, certificate of completion and digital badges for mastery of certain program topics, support to participants in drafting and revising resumes, inclusion in the SBI resume book, which will be distributed to employers, and a career fair at the end of the six-week program," said Guilbaud. "Participants will gain exposure to much-needed knowledge for today's business world from Winthrop's superior business faculty and will have numerous network opportunities, which we all know is vitally important to job placement as well," he added.
