ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Winthrop University residential and commuter students are being surveyed via the internet and social media in order to better understand their current housing needs and their attitudes regarding housing options for students.

The survey, which was developed by real estate research and consulting firm The Danter Company, will help inform Winthrop's leadership regarding the university's current and future housing inventory and options.

"The survey will help us in planning the next phase of our residential offerings. We want to know what current students are looking for, what they expect, and how much they are willing to pay in order to create the kind of living spaces that will attract students in the future," said Walter Hardin, Winthrop's associate vice president for facilities management.

In addition to the online survey, students will be asked to participate in focus groups in early October. Some survey respondents may be invited to be a part of the focus groups. Those students who completed the survey also will be entered into a drawing to win one of five $50 gift cards.
