ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Due to concerns surrounding the continued COVID-19 pandemic, Winthrop University leadership has decided to pause all Homecoming activities this fall, including Homecoming on the Green and the Homecoming tailgate.

Homecoming and Reunion Weekend was scheduled for Nov. 13-14 and is paused to ensure the safety of alumni, families and friends who gather on campus each year to celebrate.

The Division of Student Affairs is considering hosting a spirit week in the spring depending on guidance at that time from the CDC and DHEC; however, activities have not been confirmed.

The university community has had to implement and adjust to a number of changes in the wake of the pandemic, including modifications to the fall 2020 academic calendar, student activities and alumni events.

Winthrop recently announced that the class reunion portion of the traditional Homecoming and Reunion Weekend has been postponed until Spring 2021. Alumni with class years ending in ’0 or ’5 will soon hear more from the Alumni Association about spring activities, which will include the Class of 1970 50th reunion wine and cheese reception and class dinner, class reunion gatherings, the Winthrop Archives memorabilia display, trolley tours and the Alumni Reunion and Awards Luncheon.

Look for more information in the coming months as the university explores the best ways to safely celebrate.

In the meantime, visit the Homecoming and Reunion Weekend website to look back at Homecoming 2019 festivities.
