ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Winthrop University Galleries will debut three new exhibitions in April: the 29th Annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, the M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition and
the Fine Arts Senior Exhibition.
An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with these exhibitions
on Friday, April 7 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Rutledge Gallery, Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick
Gallery in Rutledge Building and the Lewandowski Student Gallery in McLaurin Hall.

The 2017 Fine Arts Senior Exhibition is a key component of the capstone learning experience
for students enrolled in the Senior Studio Seminar in the Department of Fine Arts.
The class requires students to build individual websites as well as organize a senior
exhibition that illustrates their conceptual and artistic growth.

Each spring, current Winthrop students are eligible to submit their recent work to
the Undergraduate Juried Exhibition. This exhibition is an opportunity for students
to have their work selected by a prominent regional juror to exhibit in a professional
gallery setting. Open to students in the Department of Fine Arts and Department of Design, this yearly exhibition showcases Winthrop's brightest talent from areas such as
painting, sculpture, jewelry/metals, printmaking, interior design, illustration, photography
and graphic design.
This year's juror is Jennifer Sudul Edwards, curator at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Select Winthrop undergraduate students not participating in the Undergraduate Juried
Exhibition will host a "Salon des Refusés" exhibition at the Loading Gallery Dock
in the Gettys Building at the corner of Main and Caldwell Streets in downtown Rock
Hill. The exhibition runs Monday, April 3-Friday, April 7, with a closing reception

The 2017 Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) Thesis Exhibition features new work by artists
completing their M.F.A. graduate program in the Department of Fine Arts. This year
there are three parts.
Blalock, Fabio and Gottschalk will hold an artist talk on Thursday, April 13 at 11
a.m. in the Patrick Gallery. Foshag, Valdez and Kempisty will hold an artist talk
on Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. in the Patrick Gallery and Rutledge 3rd Floor. All
talks are approved cultural events.
