Theatre Production for Teachers

Overview

A student actor in costume finishing their makeup in the dressing roomThis microcredential reinforces understanding of the principles and practices of costume design and construction, to teach the student costume silhouettes and conventions through history and how to mimic them, and to engage the student in the reading and analysis of play scripts, budgeting, costume tracking, and other steps in the process of designing costumes. It also offers hands-on training in elements of drafting and lighting programming specific to stage and lighting design for theatre. Included in drafting are ground plans, elevations, 3D rendering, and lighting graphics using computer drafting techniques available to educators. Included in lighting are patching and programming with incandescent and LED fixtures using ETC consoles.
