WHEREAS, area band and choral directors have expressed a need and a desire to pursue
graduate work in conducting; and
WHEREAS, Winthrop University has traditionally had strong curricular offerings in
the areas of wind instrumental and choral conducting; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Master of Music in Conducting degree has been structured to
meet national standards of accreditation and the resources to offer the program are
already in place at Winthrop University;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees does
hereby authorize the addition of the Master of Music in Conducting degree to the curriculum
of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
