WHEREAS, the mission of the Visual Communication Design Program is to provide students
with sound academic preparation in the fields of graphic design and illustration;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed program will provide students an opportunity to obtain cross-disciplinary
background and training that prepares them for supervisory or management responsibilities;
and
WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Communication is a nationally
recognized degree in the discipline and will be eligible for accreditation by the
National Association of Schools of Art and Design; and
WHEREAS, local, state, and regional projections support high demand and need for visual
communication design programs; and
WHEREAS, no additional resources above student tuition and fees will be required for
this program;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication
Design degree program be added.
