WHEREAS, President DiGiorgio has informed the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University
of his intention to retire as the 9th President of Winthrop University effective August
2013; and
WHEREAS, it is the Board of Trustees' intention to appoint the tenth President of
Winthrop University who will be charged with building upon and enhancing Winthrop's
record of accomplishment and innovation while leading the University to increasing
levels of excellence and service; and
WHEREAS, now at a critical moment in Winthrop's development, the Board will seek a
president who is qualified to meet the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly transforming
higher education landscape; and
WHEREAS, a Search and Selection Committee has been named, a timeline for the search
created, and operating guidelines and a charge to the committee have been developed;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University adopts
the attached timeline for the search, the operating guidelines governing the search
for the 10th President of Winthrop University and a charge to the Search and Selection
Committee; and
LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED the Search and Selection Committee is charged to present
to the Board of Trustees an unranked list of qualified candidates to be the 10th President
of Winthrop University, with a proposed target date of no later than March 2013.
