WHEREAS, Kambrell Garvin, by virtue of his position as President of the Council of
Student Leaders, has served as the student representative to the Winthrop University
Board of Trustees during the academic years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013; and
WHEREAS, he benevolently volunteered many hours of his time as a member of the 10th
Presidential Search and Selection Committee; and
WHEREAS, he has employed his concern for people, his community spirit, and his experience
as a student leader to ensure that Winthrop University continues its tradition of
outstanding service to students; and
WHEREAS, he consistently shared thoughtful advice and counsel with the President and
the Board and devoted himself to the fulfillment of Winthrop University's mission;
and
WHERAS, he is commended for his plan to continue his service to South Carolina through
Teach for America, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the movement to
eliminate educational inequity by engaging recent college graduates and professionals
in teaching;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University recognizes
Kambrell Garvin for his commitment to, support of, and distinguished leadership in
student endeavors at Winthrop University.
