WHEREAS, Winthrop University with grateful appreciation, does hereby acknowledge,
commend, and honor the distinguished service of Dr. James C. Williamson, Jr. as an
alumni representative to the Board of Trustees from 2012 until 2014; and
WHEREAS, he has resolutely demonstrated his commitment to Winthrop University and
the transformative power of education; and
WHEREAS, during his time with the Committee on Institutional Advancement and Development
has provided excellent insight on matters related to student recruitment, enrollment
management, and marketing as well as alumni affairs and the encouragement of private
support and institutional fundraising for the University; and
WHEREAS, he is celebrated for outstanding citizenship, as president of his local Rotary
Club, chair of his local Chamber of Commerce, member of various economic development
boards, winner of the Professional Achievement Award and Citizen of the Year Award;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Trustees, President Williamson, and the Winthrop
University faculty, staff and students do hereby convey their admiration and profound
appreciation to Jimmie Williamson and wish him all the best in his future endeavors
in service to higher education as the next president and executive director of the
S.C. Technical College System.
