RESOLUTION TO HONOR DR. FRANK ARDAIOLO FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO WINTHROP UNIVERSITY

WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Ardaiolo has served Winthrop University for an admirable twenty-nine years as Vice President for Student Life, Winthrop University with grateful appreciation does hereby acknowledge, commend, and honor Frank Ardaiolo as one of the longest serving Vice Presidents in Winthrop history; and

WHEREAS, he has shown a deep commitment to the scholarship and development of his profession, having served as President of the Foundation Board of Directors of NASPA, being awarded both the Scott Goodnight Award and the inaugural South Carolina Campus Compact Civic Engagement Leader Award, and publishing more than thirty monograph chapters, articles and essays on legal issues, quality improvement, adult learners, student affairs/academic affairs collaboration, civic engagement and African politics; and

WHEREAS, the exceptional number of student life professionals under his charge who have gone on to prominent positions with notable successes is a testament to his great capacity as a mentor and his commitment to encouraging greatness in others; and

WHEREAS, his lively and stimulating contributions to the classroom, the campus and local communities, and regions across the world have enriched both the intellectual and social fabric of Winthrop University and the world at large; and

WHEREAS, his contributions to Rock Hill and York County have been marked by a commitment to diversity and engagement as evidenced by his selection for the city's Dreamkeeper Award and having served as an original member of the city's No Room for Racism Committee, as well as on the City of Rock Hill's Human Relations Committee, the International Center of York County, chairing the city's Hispanic Education Task Force and chairing the Board of Directors for Keystone Substance Abuse Services; and

WHEREAS, he has shared his extensive knowledge and experience with students in the development of courses for the Leadership minor program and leading students and alumni on numerous trips to Greece, Turkey, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Great Britain to raise awareness of global citizenship and leadership;

THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees and President Dan Mahony, on behalf of the students, faculty and staff at Winthrop University, do hereby convey their deep respect and profound gratitude to Dr. Frank Ardaiolo, and do commend him for his loyalty and service to Winthrop University.
