WHEREAS, the State of South Carolina has developed a comprehensive approach to information security through the Department of Administration’s Division of Information Security, and
WHEREAS, the State of South Carolina has developed a comprehensive approach to privacy
and data protection through the Enterprise Privacy Office of the Department of Administration,
and
WHEREAS, the South Carolina legislature has required that public institutions of higher
learning have cyber security policies, guidelines, and standards that meet or exceed
those implemented by the South Carolina Department of Administration, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University wants to ensure that the University
has a
comprehensive information security program which meets the requirements as set forth
by the
legislature of the State of South Carolina,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University authorizes
the
administration to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for information security
to include
policies and procedures that are in alignment with the South Carolina Department of
Administration
Division of Information Security, Enterprise Privacy Office, and industry best practices.
