WHEREAS, Winthrop University provides a wide range of academic programs serving the people of South Carolina, and in particular the north central region of the state, and
WHEREAS, the 21st century economy increasingly requires employees to refresh and gain
specific competencies, and
WHEREAS, the members of the Board recognize their fiduciary responsibilities to ensure
the fiscal health of the University with the understanding that a program launch may
have a short term investment but will show positive results within the first three-years
of existence; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees at Winthrop University examined the proposal to launch the College of Education Non-Credit Competency-Based Education recommendations provided by the Committee on Finance and supported by the Committee on Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Enrollment; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the university to move forward with The College of Education Non-Credit Competency-Based Education launch in Fall 2023.
