WHEREAS, Winthrop University is authorized to award both earned and honorary degrees, and
WHEREAS, Winthrop University recognizes the significant achievements of individuals through the awarding of an honorary degree, and
WHEREAS, Honorary Degree deliberations are intentionally kept secret and held in confidence,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Winthrop University Board of Trustees concurs with the recommendation of the Honorary Degree Review Committee and the President to notify the individual recommended that Winthrop will award the designated honorary degree at a mutually acceptable time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Secretary to the Board of Trustees shall certify that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees approved this resolution on the 12th Day of October 2023, in a regularly called meeting. Such resolution shall be maintained and publicly posted by the Secretary of the Board in a time and manner as required by law.
