RESOLUTION REGARDING THE CONFIGURATION AND RATE CHANGES FOR STUDENT MEAL PLANS

WHEREAS pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. §59–125–1, et. seq., the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University is created and established as a body corporate for the purpose of effectuating the educational mission of Winthrop University.

WHEREAS pursuant to Winthrop Board of Trustees Bylaws art. IV, the Board of Trustees is responsible and empowered to set student meal plan rates.

WHEREAS, certain block meal plan configurations are being adjusted to ensure they offer better value compared to walk-in door rates, as our block plans have remained unchanged for several years and recent evaluations have revealed disparities in value;

WHEREAS, the University has determined that a 5% increase in the rates for all meal plans is necessary to absorb the increasing costs of food services, which the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports have risen with an unadjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 4.5% for “Food Away from Home” for the 12-month period ending February 2024;
