International Business

Student Organizations

Winthrop has more than 180 student organizations. Those that are of particular interest to International Business students are listed below.  

Beta Gamma Sigma is an academic honor society for Business majors in Colleges of Business that are accredited by AACSB. The top seven percent of students in the junior class, and the top ten percent of students in the senior class, are invited to become members.  

Winthrop Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) promotes the principles of free enterprise by developing projects and working with individuals, organizations and businesses on campus and in the community. Some of these activities involve working with international students or local residents from other countries. SIFE also helps members improve their skills in business, communication, and leadership. Members have access to a variety of internship and job opportunities through corporate sponsors.  

The Investment Club sponsors The Stock Market Game, a competitive online stock market simulation. The purpose is to help students learn about financial markets and investment strategies.  

The Culture Club is open to anyone at Winthrop who is interested in different cultures. The club offers events and social activities related to many cultures. Members also attend international events in Rock Hill and Charlotte.  

The Winthrop Economics Club (WE) sponsors speakers, projects, and activities related to economics. 

The Winthrop University Finance Club (WUFC) seeks to provide information and new opportunities to students who are interested in Finance.  

Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional business fraternity for both men and women. The organization's activities are designed to help its members become principled business leaders.  

Several student organizations in the College of Business have won regional or national awards.
