The Outdoor Education Center is staffed by some of Winthrop's finest students. Prior
to their service at the OEC, all course facilitators are required to participate in
and successfully complete a rigorous 40 hour high and low ropes course training based
on standards outlined by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT).
All are trained, tested, and experienced in the physical, psychological, logistical,
technical, and safety dimensions of the OEC. The mental, emotional, and physical safety
and well-being of program participants is our first priority. Facilitators are selected
on the basis of individual group needs and interests.
