Center for Civic Learning

Initiatives

The Center for Civic Learning leads Winthrop's participation in several national initiatives that focus on civic learning and citizen engagement.

All In Campus Democracy Challenge
Winthrop is one of only five South Carolina Institutions to participate in this national get-out-the vote initiative in 2016.

Voter Friendly Campus Program
In 2019, Winthrop earned it's second designation as a “Voter Friendly Campus” from the national nonpartisan organizations Campus Vote Project (CVP) and NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. This honor recognizes Winthrop's efforts in educating and encouraging students to vote in the 2018 mid-term election. Winthrop was one of 123 institutions nationwide earning the designation, and only one of two in the state. In 2017, Winthrop was one of only 83 colleges and universities nationwide — and one of only two in South Carolina — to earn Voter Friendly Campus designation for 2017-2018. This designation was awarded for its 2016 student voter registration, education, and turn out efforts.
