Please find the following access accommodations for you or your guests to the Winthrop Commencement ceremony. Please review the information below regarding accessibility for the ceremony.

 

Accessible Parking for Students/ Guests

Accessible parking is located in the North lot(s) to the right of the coliseum. Note: This area will be taped off and monitored by a Winthrop University Police Officer.  Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis. This lot is located closest to the North accessible ramp way which leads to the accessible seating in the upper concourse area of the coliseum.  Once this lot fills up you will need to utilize other available parking spots.

Golf cart shuttles will be available to transport individuals with mobility or navigational issues to the upper concourse. Individuals may also access the North accessible ramp which leads to the accessible seating in the upper concourse area. Signs will be placed out identifying the ramp and the actual course. Anyone needing assistance with mobility and/ or navigation is encouraged to attend the ceremony with someone who is able to properly assist.

Visitors requiring the use of wheelchairs, walkers, or other medical devices will need to provide their own/ prescribed equipment to ensure safety. Visitors may also explore rental companies in the area who can complete a proper equipment fitting evaluation and rent the device to the visitor.

 

Accessible Seating for Guests

Accessible seating will be located on the upper concourse, which is accessible by ramp on the North side of the coliseum. There are cutout spots reserved for wheelchairs, as well. Note: all accessible seating and cutout spots are available on a first come- first serve basis. All seating on the lower and ground levels may be reached via elevator and steps, only.

 

Accessible Rest Rooms

Accessible rest rooms are located on the upper concourse level for your convenience.

Technology

FM Systems will be made available for those that have requested them in advance. American Sign Language Interpreting will be available.

 

YouTube Livestream

Those unable to attend in person may watch the livestream of the event.  A link to the livestream will be available on the Winthrop homepage and on the Winthrop YouTube channel.
