I9 / E-Verify

The I-9 is a federal form used to verify the identity and employment eligibility of individuals hired in the United States. The first part of the I9 form requires employees to attest to their employment eligibility. The second part requires employers to examine the documents provided by employees as evidence of eligibility and to complete the second part of the form. (See list of acceptable documents.)

In addition, the South Carolina Illegal Immigration Reform Act requires that Winthrop participate in the E-verify program, which compares information from an individual’s I-9 form to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration to confirm eligibility to work in the United States.

Procedures for completing the I-9 form/E-verify.
