Wingspan Timekeeping Instructions

Employees who work less than 37.5 hours per week

Permanent employees who are scheduled to work 30 hours per week should be aware of special circumstances when entering hours on the Wingspan time sheet.  Please let us know if you need any assistance with these guidelines:

  • Enter all hours worked as "Actual Hours Worked" on the time sheet.
  • Any time worked over 30 hours (and less than 40) in a week should also be entered as "Comp Time 1.0 — Earned".
  • Types of compensatory time
    • CT10 is earned at the rate of hour-for-hour worked from 30.25 - 40.00 hours per work week.  Hours entered as "Comp Time 1.0 — Earned" on the time sheet will be added to the Comp Time 1.0 Hourly balance automatically.
      • Example 1:  if you record 38 hours of Actual Hours Worked and 8 hours of Comp Time 1.0 - Earned, after that time sheet runs through payroll, 8 hours will be added to the CT10 balance.
      • Example 2:  if you record 41 hours of Actual Hours Worked and 10 hours of Comp Time 1.0 - Earned, after that time sheet runs through payroll, 10 hours will be added to the CT10 balance and 1.5 hours will be added to the CTNE balance.
    • CTNE is earned at the rate of one-and-a-half hours for each hour worked in excess of 40 per work week, Sunday through Saturday.  Hours will be added to your Comp Time Non-Exempt balance automatically, based solely on the hours entered in "Actual Hours Worked" row of the time sheet.
      • Example:  if you record 41 hours of Actual Hours Worked on a given work week, after that time sheet runs through payroll, 1.5 hours will be added to the CTNE balance.
    • Note:  comp time for a work week will only be added to the balance after the entire work week in question runs through payroll.  If a work week crosses two pay periods, it will not be updated until the second pay period is processed.
  • You can access your leave balances at any time in Wingspan, using the Employee Dashboard.  Please take note of the "Available Balance as of" date.
  • For Comp Time balance, use it as time off from regularly scheduled work hours in lieu of annual leave.
    • For Comp Time - 1.0, use the "Comp Time 1.0 Taken" row on the time sheet.
    • For Comp Time Non-Exempt use the "Comp Time Taken" row on the time sheet.
  • Please refer to the leave policy for more details.
