Instructions for Reporting Work Hours during Summer Holiday weeks

Regular Winthrop employees are eligible for holiday pay according to the approved Holiday Schedule.  The number of hours granted as holiday pay is based on the number of hours in the employee's regular work day (up to 8 hours per day).  The non-exempt employee's time sheet must account for at least 37.5 hours per work week in any combination of actual hours worked, leave, or holiday hours.  See the Winthrop University Policy Regarding Holiday Pay for additional information.

Employees working according to the "general summer" schedule should follow the instructions below for completing time sheets on Wingspan for holidays that occur during the summer of 2024.

 

Memorial Day - Monday, May 27, 2024

Winthrop University offices will be closed.  Most Winthrop employees receive 7.5 hours of holiday pay for one holiday (based on the regular work day).  The summer schedule work week includes four 8.5 hour work days and one 3.5 hour work day.  Since May 27 is a scheduled, 8.5 hour day, the employee will receive 7.5 hours of holiday pay for the day.  The additional hour away from work on the holiday, is accounted for by scheduling/working an additional hour on the Friday of the same week (May 31, 2024).

The employee may also be allowed to use one hour of annual leave or, for non-exempt employees, accrued compensatory time or previously accrued holiday compensatory time. Employees who take leave on May 31st, must report 4.5 hours of leave, unless the employee has worked additional hours during the same work week.

 

Fourth of July - Thursday, July 4, 2024
