Winthrop University is considered among the "Best in the Southeast" by the Princeton Review.
Winthrop is one of 143 schools that the company recommends online at "2019 Best Colleges: Region by Region," a feature posted on its website.

Winthrop President Dan Mahony said he is pleased that the Princeton Review has noted the diversity and value of
the Winthrop experience.

The Princeton Review compiles its list based on institutional data collected directly
from the colleges, visits to schools, input from college counselors and the opinions
of the Princeton Review's staff. Students rated their own schools and answered questions
about themselves, their peers and campus life. Schools selected by the publication
as "Best Colleges" are considered "academically outstanding and well worth consideration."
The schools in the "2019 Best Colleges: Region by Region" list also are rated in six categories - academics, admissions selectivity, financial
aid, fire safety, quality of life and green adaptability. Criteria for each rating

in 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,
