Supporting Dr. Edward Serna in his leadership role at Winthrop is his family: wife
Lauren and daughters Anna Kate and Caroline. The Sernas enjoy traveling, the outdoors,
hiking, snow and water activities, and all things Star Wars.
First lady Lauren Serna serves as the associate director of development at Westminster Catawba Christian School. Prior to her current role, Lauren was the associate director of advancement at the University of Maine Farmington. She also served as associate director of development, director of donor relations and events, and career services coordinator at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith.
Lauren was a student athlete at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama, then attended the University of North Alabama in Florence, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in fitness management and business administration.
The Sernas’ teenage daughter, Anna Kate, enjoys competitive dance, theater, and snow skiing. Her younger sister, Caroline, loves basketball, volleyball and horseback riding. They share their parents’ love of the outdoors and their family dog, a Cockapoo named Cooper. The Sernas reside on campus in the historic President’s House.
