Graduates of the program will learn to design, develop and implement instructional materials and learning environments in face-to-face classes, online classes, or blended/hybrid learning environment. Graduates will be able to create instructor led or self-paced learning materials. This degree will provide you with the professional preparation you need to succeed in the growing field of Learning Design and Technology.

Graduate Assistantships
Students have the opportunity to work in their department and around campus as graduate assistants and associates.
Versatile Skills
This program emphasizes the study and application of learning theory and technology skills that can be applied to learning problems in a wide range of settings.

You’ll work online but not alone. Classes designed to meet the needs of working adults.
Instruction will be delivered to the students in an online environment using synchronous and asynchronous learning management systems. Students take one 7 week class at a time and two classes per semester. They will finish the program in five concurrent semesters including one summer session.

Application requirements for the Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology program include:
An online Graduate Studies application and non-refundable application fee
Official transcript(s) from all institutions attended for undergraduate and graduate coursework. Transcripts must be sent directly to Winthrop's Graduate Studies office from the issuing institution(s).
Statement of purpose: The statement of purpose should demonstrate the potential to be successful in writing at a level appropriate for graduate study, why the degree program meets their professional goals, and their emerging and/or existing knowledge of the field. The statement of purpose should not exceed two single-spaced word-processed pages.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Graduates may find employment in a variety of settings including but not limited to corporate learning, health care, government, military, nonprofit, and higher education environments.

Many of our students are hired while they are still students in our program.
Notice to International Applicants:
Per U.S. Immigration Regulation, international students who study in the U.S. in F-1 status may enroll in one, 3-hour online course per semester to fulfill the full-time enrollment requirement. This program requires more than one online class per semester to meet full-time enrollment and would not be approved for F-1 status. More information about visa status is available from our International Center.
