Who We Are

We are content creators. We are writers, editors, and technicians committed to disseminating accurate and timely information via news, web, and social media channels. Our functional areas are news, information services, and communications.

What We Do

Below is a snapshot of services we provide.

The staff writes and promotes press releases for an array of university events and happenings. Staff members follow the Winthrop Style Guide of writing and editing to produce top quality work. Archived releases are also available. In addition, staff members track weekly media coverage of Winthrop mentions in the news.

Staff members create compelling content for Winthrop's comprehensive social media presence and maintain a listing of departmental and organizational social media accounts. Interested in establishing your department or organization’s social media account? Please submit the social media registration form to get started and familiarize yourself with proper social media guidelines for posting and maintaining a social media account.

Writers provide engaging editorial content for the university's premier printed and online publications such as the Winthrop Magazine and the Winthrop Insider, a monthly enewsletter.

Staff members provide limited photography services during regular business hours. For photography assistance after 5 p.m. or on weekends, offices and/or departments are encouraged to hire a freelance photographer.

Communications staff also manage the university's digital archive. The archive contains numerous iconic, as well as event-specific, photographs that fulfill a variety of marketing and web-specific needs. For more information or to request photography services, please contact the Office of University Communications and Marketing at 803/323-2236.
